I am a journalist and graduate student in Canada, Mount Saint Vincent University, Women and Gender Studies. I have a journalistic background in my home country, Turkey. During my bachelor degree in Istanbul, I started to work for Milliyet Newspaper in Turkey, as a correspondent in daily news departments. I then worked at Cumhuriyet Newspaper, is the oldest social democratic Turkish daily newspaper. As a reporter, my work focused on child abuse, violence against women, human trafficking, terror, human and minorities’ rights and refugee experiences in Syria- Turkey border migrant camps. After 5 years in media experiences, I was accepted in Women and Gender Studies program at MSVU-this is the first women studying university, at that time women could not vote in North America. In my first year, I took courses in feminist methodology and theory, international relations and social policy. Bringing academic perspective to my previous journalistic work to by research into women and ISIS terror. Female Suicide Bombers in ISIS, From ISIS’s terror to ‘Bridge Country’, Turkey to ‘Home Country’, Canada: Journey of Hope for Refugee Women and North American Media Coverage of Radicalized women in connection with ISIS are my some academic article titles.
